"My family has always been one of my biggest motivators. My parents and my sister have been there through thick and thin. They have provided more support than I could have ever imagined. We've had many ups and downs but they never gave up and always stood by to support me. Growing up my sister and I were not always kind to each other and now I am so glad to have her to talk to and share my crazy ideas with. My maternal Grandparents were always huge motivators in my life. My Grandmother was always the one that pushed me to do better while my Grandfather was the reason I chose to get a career in nursing. My Grandfather passing in 2006 was a huge life changing moment. My world came crashing down around me and for years after his passing I fought with depression and anxiety. He has been a huge influence in my life and career choices still to this day.
Another life changing moment was the day I had my son Connor. Connor was a miracle baby. The doctors said that there was a possibility my husband and I may not have children due to both of us having medical issues. The day I found out I was pregnant I felt like I was in a movie or someone was playing a cruel joke with me. I had Connor on my March Break while I was in nursing school. Connor came into this world on March 5th, 2014 at 5:27 pm via emergency cesarean section. The moment I came back from recovery and held my baby boy, I knew my life had officially started. I could not be more proud of my son and can not wait to see what he can bring to this world.
I worked for 2.5 years after I got out of nursing school at various places as an RPN. When my son was diagnosed with autism I realized that 12 hour shift work was not going to allow for the stability he needs in life. The idea to become a foot care nurse came from my Grandmother before she passed away in May. I loved helping my Grandmother with whatever she needed. For the last few months before her passing she loved that I cut her toe nails for her. After she passed I finally realized that I wanted to pursue a career in foot care. I went for my week-long course and came home and opened my mobile business called Heel 2 Toe Foot Care Nurse. I love being self-employed as it provides more one on one time with my clients and each client has a very interesting story to tell."
