"Bladder Cancer is the 5th most common cancer in Canada and is one of the most expensive of all the cancers to treat with a recurrence rate of about 60-80%.
This year I started a Cancer Awareness walk in Northern Ontario, which is a part of the Bladder Cancer Canada National Walk. With the Northern cities being so wide-spread it only made sense for me to walk in as many towns as I could. Together with my wife and dog we did walks in all the towns from Timmins to Sudbury gathering people in each town as we went. The best part of the walk is being able to spread awareness while meeting so many amazing people along the way.
Cancer has been one of the worst things that has ever happened to me. It is a disease I wish on no one, but knowing everyone will be affected in some way by Cancer I have been able to use it as a means of communication. Being able to turn this disease into a positive by helping others and talking about the signs of Bladder Cancer has been extremely rewarding. Together with the help of others I am going to turn cancer back on itself, help spread the awareness and kick Cancer’s butt."
